Crafted by Peter Dawson and Tim James, Dawson James is the result of two of Australia’s most experienced winemakers turning their focus to Tasmania. Working with mature, 30-year-old vines from Meadowbank in the Derwent Valley, the wines reflect a deep understanding of site and a commitment to purity and precision.
The 2024 Island Belle Pinot Noir is an outstanding release, recently awarded Champion Wine of Show at the Tasmanian Wine Show. It’s a beautifully expressive style, driven by the generosity of the vintage yet retaining trademark Tasmanian finesse.
Expect vibrant aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry and citrus blossom, layered with subtle exotic spice and a hint of struck flint. The palate is supple and finely structured, offering silky tannins, bright acidity and a seamless, flowing texture. There’s an effortless drinkability here, balanced by enough complexity to keep things compelling.
Awarded 95 points by Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion), this is a standout Pinot that overdelivers—refined, expressive and exceptional value.
"As I write this, I've just returned from judging at the 2026 Tasmanian Wine Show, where this particular wine picked up the top pinot noir trophy and the Champion Wine of Show. And it's an absolute cracker. Gorgeous ripe fruit (thank you '24 vintage), daubed with exotic spice and struck-flint complexity, high tones of citrus blossom and raspberry and an air of effortless drinkability. The price makes this an absolute no-brainer. It's a great little wine." Dave Brookes
