Description
Les Gravières is situated closer to the village center, lying at the foot of the slopes, where the gravelly soils give it its name and unique characteristics. In contrast, La Comme is positioned slightly higher on the hillside, benefiting from a southeast-facing aspect and limestone-rich soils. The proximity of these two vineyards highlights the diversity within Santenay, with La Gravières producing wines with structure, more ageability and finesse, while La Comme offers vibrant minerality and freshness.
This could be a 10+ year cellar propostion, whilst being approachable now.
“Once again there are high toned aromas of poached plum, violet and a similar hint of kirsch. There is again fine volume and richness to the generously proportioned medium weight flavors that possess an opulent mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts somewhat with the firm, serious and youthfully austere but not rustic finale”. 91 points, Outstanding-Top Value, Allen Meadows; Burghound.
