Description
Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie is highly esteemed for its exquisite quality and traditional winemaking. Located in the northern Rhône Valley, the domaine benefits from steep, granite-rich vineyards ideal for Syrah. Founded in 1976, it has maintained a commitment to classic Côte-Rôtie styles, focusing on purity, elegance, and complexity. The wines are known for their vibrant fruit, spicy notes, and refined tannins, showcasing exceptional aging potential. Limited production and meticulous vineyard management further enhance their exclusivity and desirability among connoisseurs, establishing Domaine Jamet as a benchmark for Côte-Rôtie wines.
This wine painstakingly produced. It is made from 20 separate parcels across 15 different vineyards, each fermented separately before being blended together to achieve the right combination of flavours. It is then left to mature for 22 months in oak barrels, gaining tannin, savoury spices and the profound structure Jamet is known for. What else would you expect from a world leader in winemaking?
All this work, effort and detailed attention pays off. The wine is faultless, with a savoury core of roasted spices and earth, surrounded by a filigreed pattern of cherries, dried olives and dried bay leaf. To say it’s amazing is, simply, an understatement. This a wine worthy of admiration, and will be drinking beautifully for decades.
“Dark violet color. Powerful, spice- and mineral-tinged black and blue fruits, incense, violet and smoked meat on the expansive nose. Rich yet surprisingly energetic, offering palate-staining blueberry, cherry-cola, floral pastille and licorice flavors that become sweeter as the wine opens up. Shows excellent energy and spicy thrust on the clinging finish, which is given shape by dusty, slow-building tannins”. 96 points, Josh Raynolds
